IIS Partners Summary Privacy Policy

Our commitment

IIS is committed to privacy best practice.

Even though we are a small business and are not otherwise covered by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), we have formally opted in to coverage. This means we follow the Australian Privacy Principles when we handle personal information.

Scope

We don’t collect a lot of personal information. The information we hold is mostly contact details of the personnel of our clients or potential clients.

This summary privacy policy explains how we handle personal information. You can get more information in our full privacy policy.

Collection of personal information

We collect personal information:

  • When clients give it to us – for example on a business card, in an email

  • When a person signs up to our online mailing list

  • When a person registers to an IIS training event

  • From public sources or our networks to find potential clients or people interested in privacy.

We don’t collect identifiable personal information about people who only browse our website.

Use and disclosure

We use (and in limited cases disclose) personal information to:

  • Provide the agreed service to a client

  • Send email newsletters to people we have been in contact with and who have not opted out of receiving it

  • Register and provide our privacy and cyber security training events

  • Put an organisation hosting privacy related meetings in touch with people we know might be interested.

We don’t use or share information about a person for any other purpose without their permission unless the law requires it.

We use Google Analytics to analyse non-identifiable website traffic data to improve our services. You can opt out of this by visiting here.

Where we store your information

The personal information that we collect is mainly stored in devices and data centres located in Australia. These include our use of the Microsoft 365 suite of products and Humanitix for event registration and payment services.

We use two services that involve hosting data (which includes personal information) overseas:

  • Tresorit (encrypted file sync and sharing) – located in Ireland

  • Mailchimp (email newsletters) – located in the United States.

In both cases, the information is encrypted in transit and on the organisations’ servers. Only IIS personnel have access to it.

You can ask to access or correct the information we hold about you. To do so, please contact us using the details below.

You can also ask to be taken off our mailing list. Either click ‘unsubscribe’ in the last email we sent you or contact us using the details below.
